Florida~rain or shine there's always heat

I've been counting down my take off to Florida Escape since May 11th. We finally landed. After our crazy layover in the ATL~got dropped at one terminal; told to go to the opposite side of the terminal to catch our connector flight. I couldn't find a phone {sorry Lill} was dying of hunger. Tell me! Who the hell could really survive on 10 salty peanuts? My flight left LAX at 12:50, so I was obviously full from dinner, but it doesn't matter WHAT time you fly now adays. Peanuts? Really?! I took them. Two in fact! Lol Just in case. Anyway, while in the ATL terminal I realized after waiting over an hour at LAX to check in, and seeing the chaos in the terminal, I knew I needed to eat~or pass out. Peanuts!!!! Hannah & I stopped at the first place we came to, Paschals-A Southern Tradition. I'm thinking whatever. I'm hungry, she's hungry. Eat! I wish I could show you the photo I took of my breakfast. {insert imagination here}. And yes, I took a photo of my food. EVs. Over it. Moving on. We had the bacon eggs & homefries. I love SAYING homefry. Such a funny word. I call my kids homefry Lol So...I ate some. Let me tell ya GREAT potatoes. And then~these scrambled eggs were so effing good. Maybe I was super hungry? I doubt it. They were so creamy & good. I swear there is something in that southern air. Everything seems richer. Even the food. Especially the food! My food served on a simple white styrofoam plate on a red tray with plastic fork was so damn good. All this goodness from some chain in the airport. Good!

We 'people watched' for awhile, laughed about silly stuff. Talked about how exciting this trip already was. Even the delays & long waits we hated couldn't spoil this bonding between mother & child. My 40 year journey. I didn't plan for it, it just sort of happened. But as I will continue to say as Julie keeps reminding me & John Lennon was once quoted: "Life is what happens while you're busy making plans".

We made our way to the opposite side of the airport with only 45 minutes to spare. Again, I'm so sorry Lilly~I hate not having a cell. The entire area was empty with the exception of the one female worker monitoring the gate & one other family. A few others began spilling in, but none was there for the flight I was leaving on. Hannah & I bantered back and fourth on the issue. Examining & re-examining the boarding pass. No report was posted stating any changes. With maybe 30 minutes left to spare I asked the female worker which gate I should be at. She takes my ticket, punches something into the computer & then promptly grabs her microphone & presses the button, "Excuse, all passengers boarding flight 1646 to West Palm Beach, Fl. Gate A1. Your gate number has been changed to gate T1." She pushes her microphone away & looks at me and says, "Sorry ma'am, you gate # has changed to T1."

NO SHIT! Hannah & I laughed so hard. We just looked at each other, grabbed our stuff & did a full speed walk across the terminal. Our bums were so sore. By the time we arrived to our gate there was no one else there but a couple & their small child, about 18 mo. & a stroller. Obviously newbys and showing it. Didn't have the stroller broken down BEFORE reaching the airplane entry. They were so confused on how to walk or carry the child onto the plane. And questioning WHEN to break down the stroller. Seriously!? Again, we just laughed. It seemed that every situation was funny.

We walked on to the plane & that nasty airplane smell sweeps up under the nose & ugh! I hate it! Our LAX to ATL plane smelled like hot stale tuna dried in the sun. It was nasty nasty! BUT it had music, tv, a movie. I listened to Dido. I played the inflight trivial game. Vivian won! :) Our 2nd plane smelled like too much mayo on a sandwich. At least that's how Hannah & I smelled it. We'll give that one just one nasty. Not as bad as the nasty nasty LAX to ATL tuna flight.

On flight mayonaise Hannah got the land side window seat. From above Florida looks like a huge puzzle. Beautiful patches of lush green everglades & then circular patches of beige & sage green. We took a few photos from inside the plane. I got lake that she was amzed by. It wasn't really spectacular, not large or unusual, just beautiful. Which in itself is pretty amazing. As we glanced out the window before take off, we took notice to a woman flying with her daughter. An aisle separated us. As we were preparing to take off, she'd already struck up this odd conversation with the gentelman sitting beside her daughter. She was talking loud, had a cackling laugh & then this vocal trailing off into never never land thing. I just made myself aware NOT to catch eye contact. Well, as Hannah & I are face pressed to the window about to take photos, I sit back to pop my lens cap off right as the plane is lifting off the ground. There was a bump & the lens cap popped off fell between my legs, I kicked it with my foot and sent it rolling down the center of the airplane aisle~behind me I watched it roll up under someone's seat hitting a bag. As it rolled everyone who saw my lens leaned in aisle side & watched like it was the greatest show on earth, as my lens cap disappeared into the abyss.

I lift my head up & staring at me with this look of fear is the crazy, loud cackling chatter from Nevernever Land. Now I'M scared. Oh CRAP! I made eye contact!!!!! The chatter began. I just agreed with everything she said, smiled & knodded. As soon as I heard silence.....I'd smile & return to look out the window. We photographed clouds & a few pieces of land. I know it might seem sort of lame, but for us, it was fun. I did eventually walk down to the rear of the plane to look for my lens cap, but when no one could find it, I decided to just wait until we landed. Someone had found it & left it sitting on a seat. Thank you stranger who saved my lens cap!

I won't venture to even tell what happened when I arrived in Florida, just know that I HATE that I didn't have a cell!

Moving on......Kelly & Kelsey arrived beautiful as always! I'm so happy to be back in Florida. I love this place {and} this place, I think, it loves me too. Some day I'll make it to the Keys. That's who's really calling me. Some day.....

I'll follow up later with some photogs.

Until then~Happy trails!
